Amphetamines (AMP): Also known as speed, whiz, amph, billy, phets and sulph. Amphetamines are a type of stimulant originally used as appetite suppressants. They can be snorted, injected and taken orally. Abuse of the drug can cause hyperactivity, increased energy, decreased appetite, headaches, alertness, aggressiveness and fatigue.

Barbiturates (BAR): These drugs also go by the name of barbs, downers, barbies, barbita and seconal and act as depressants or sedatives. Although they have legitimate uses as anticonvulsant and anesthetic drugs, barbiturates are taken orally to produce a sense of intoxication, much like that of alcohol.

Benzodiazepines (BZO): Also known as tranks, downers, benzos, Activan, Halcion, Librium, Rohypnol and Valium, these drugs are often prescribed to relieve anxiety and insomnia. However, when abused, withdrawal symptoms may become apparent such as insomnia, delusions, loss of appetite and perspiration and tremors.

Cocaine (COC): Going by such names as coke, snow and crack, cocaine is a stimulant that can be snorted or smoked. Users will feel euphoria, alertness, have a decreased appetite and inability to sleep. Violent behavior sometimes occurs when a user overdoses. Signs of use include irritability, dilated pupils, increased temperature and heart rate.

LSD: LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is classed as an hallucinogen. Hallucinogens occur naturally in primarily two forms, (peyote) cactus and psilocybin mushrooms. The effects of LSD are unpredictable. They depend on the amount taken; the user's personality, mood, and expectations; and the surroundings in which the drug is used.

Marijuana (THC): Also known as pot, herb, weed, grass, widow, ganja and hash. Marijuana is a mix of dried, shredded flowers and leaves of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). Most users roll loose marijuana into a cigarette (called a "joint"), while some users also mix marijuana into foods or use it to brew tea.

Methadone (MET):Also known as Amidone, Dolophine, Methadose, linctus and meth, this drug acts as a treatment for heroin addiction. It works by relieving the symptoms of heroin withdrawal while balancing the chemicals in your body. It is also a morphine-like pain reliever. Users can be fatigued and suffer from dizziness.

Methamphetamine (mAMP): This drug goes by several names including speed, meth, chalk, ice, crystal, glass and crank and acts a stimulant to the central nervous system. Opiates (OPI): Drugs that fall under the category of opiates include heroin, codeine, opium, smack, junk and brown sugar. Users may experience a rush of pleasurable feelings upon snorting, smoking or injecting the drug but then may feel flushed, have dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, itching and drowsiness.

Ativan: Ativan is the trade name for Lorawepam which is an antianxiety medication used for the management of anxiety disorders, the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety or anxiety associated with depression. Lorawepam is in the benzodiazepine family.

Fioricet: Fioricet is a perscription medication used for the treatment of migraines. Fioricet contains butalbital, among other ingredients. Butalbital is a barbiturate and while the risk of addition to Fioricet is low, butalbital can be habit-forming if used daily.
